Pectoral muscle hematoma: A rare complication of transradial cardiac catheterization

چکیده
compared to transfemoral access, but detection and management of these complications are not well defined. We presented two unusual cases of pectoral muscle hematoma after transradial coronary angioplasty. The first case was a male patient who had undergone angiography through the left radial artery. Advancing to the aortic arch through the axillary artery was challenging and was performed by changing to 0.035 inch stiffer hydrophilic wire. The patient complained of a dull left-sided chest pain after angiography; his ECG revealed no sign of ischemia. Left pectoral muscle was swollen and tense on palpation (Fig. 1a). Thorax CT revealed a large hematoma in the left pectoral muscle (Fig. 1b). No extravasation was detected in control subclavian and axillary angiography (Fig. 2). The second case was a male patient who had undergone angiography through the right radial artery. Passing Anatol J Cardiol 2016; 16: E-21-24 E-page Original Images E-22

Pain in the neck: a rare complication of transradial cardiac catheterization.
Vascular and bleeding complications are a known risk of cardiac catheterization. In this article, we report a neck hematoma after left-sided transradial cardiac catheterization, which is a known but rarely reported complication of this procedure.
متن کاملIatrogenic left main coronary artery dissection and intramural hematoma caused by diagnostic transradial cardiac catheterization.
The growing use of the transradial approach for percutaneous coronary interventions has been shown to decrease the risk of major vascular complications. However, in this case report we describe a iatrogenic left main dissection during diagnostic coronary catheterization, which remains a rare, but still life-threatening condition. The adjunctive use of intravascular ultrasound may assist in the ...
متن کاملIatrogenic right coronary artery dissection caused by diagnostic transradial cardiac catheterization
We are presenting rare, but life-threatening complication of diagnostic coronary catheterization. To overcome the problem requires operator's experience and appropriate actions. We want to share our experience to interventionalists to be aware and ready to recognize and overcome such complication.

BACKGROUND Radial artery occlusion is a known complication following transradial cardiac catheterization. A shorter duration of postprocedural radial clamp time may reduce radial artery occlusion (RAO) but might be associated with incomplete hemostasis. METHODS AND RESULTS In total, 568 patients undergoing transradial diagnostic cardiac catheterization were randomly assigned to either 20 minu...

OBJECTIVE Transradial access is widely used for both diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. The use of transradial access offers several advantages, including decreased bleeding, fewer vascular complications, and reduced length of hospital stay and cost. However, the small size of the radial artery limits the size of the equipment that can be used via this approach. In this study we ...
